Iraqi police officials say a bomb left in a plastic bag near the most important Shiite shrine in Baghdad has killed three people and wounded 12 others.

Two officials say the bomb exploded Wednesday morning near the shrine of Imam Mousa al-Kazim in the northern Baghdad neighborhood of Kazimiyah.
A suicide bomber struck the same area in January, killing more than three dozen people.
The Wednesday attack comes as a wave of bombings has hit Shiite areas of Baghdad this week, and the Interior Ministry is warning of the likelihood of more attacks.
The officials both spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information to the news media.
