Selena Gomez: Major Movie Star?

The Wizards of Waverly Place star reveals a movie version of the hit show is in the works—and she's pushing for Shia LeBeouf to be her co-star.

Is Selena Gomezon the brink of superstardom like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens? Following up the massive success of the High School Musical movie, which came in first in box office totals last weekend, Disney is likely to put Selena's hit television show, The Wizards of Waverly Place, on the big screen.

Selena revealed the plans to MTV News: "Yes! We actually want to shoot it here in New York," she said.

As for the regularly scheduled small-screen version of the show, Selena says the new season brings some changes for her character Alex. "She gets her first boyfriend," Selena claims.

If Selena was in charge of casting at Disney, there's no asking twice when it comes to who her on-screen love would be: bad boy Shia LeBeouf. "You'd think that as much as I promote it [he'd be coming on]," she joked. "I'm, like, begging, but it's not happening. I know I'm a nerd! Please, Shia, come on my show!"

Who knows? Maybe Shia will make a cameo in the big screen version of Wizards of Waverly Place. That might actually get us to volunteer to take our nieces to see the film.
