A woman in Indiana updated her Facebook status letting her friends know that she was off to see a band in a nearby bar. What she didn't realize was that she let a burglar know that her home was completely unattended.
Facebook users never hesitate to post their latest outings and best activities. What most users forget is that everyone will know exactly when and where they are going. Even if your profile is completely private, sometimes your own Facebook friends can target you. One user learned this the hard way.
Keri McMullen and her fiance went out to see a local band and posted it on her Facebook status. No big deal, right? Wrong! Two thieves read up on Keri's whereabouts, checked with the bar to find out when the band would play and then broke into her apartment.
The burglars got away with some of Keri's possessions, but they never noticed that their entire heist was taped. Their faces were not concealed, so it was only a matter of time until their identities were revealed.
Keri posted a picture of the thieves on her Facebook page asking her friends to try to identify the men. Turns out one of the robbers was a childhood friend and had access to her Facebook profile.
