Draco Rosa talks 'Vino'
Yes, I think it’s a track that can be interpreted in many ways. Those lyrics are a compilation of words from a Spanish man who lives in Sevilla, le dicen ‘El Loco de la Colina’ Jesus Quintero [famous Spanish interviewer/writer]. Well, I was drinking a little bit of wine with him and I was reading his things, he is so profound. And I got hooked with this message that’s part of something longer, like a novel. So I asked him if he cared if I used a little bit of his message to see what came out in a song. He said, ‘Dale pa’lante’. So, yes, it’s a message, but it goes beyond that because to live life that way is... incredible.
Do you live that way?
Well you know what, obviously when trying to make and sing this song I am also on the search of living like that… but it’s not easy.
Talk to us about your website PhantomVox.com. It’s so random and great going from Jose Saramago books to Edgar Allan Poe. Are some of your favorite things posted on the site?
Of course, me and the team chose the things, and the community too. Actually anyone can post anything. We maintain it as an open forum and we’re going to continue sharing. It’s interesting, it’s a place to go and find many ideas.
Ok, so now that we can even buy Café Draco, will wine also come into the online store?
[Laughs] No, for now we won’t be working on the wine but we’re about to start on rum.
Draco rum?
[Laughs] No, we have a name but I can reveal it yet. We’re working on that. And Café Draco will become Café Hacienda Horizonte. But for the first coffee packages it came as Café Draco.
And this is coming from your Hacienda in Puerto Rico, right?
Yes, we have avocados, coffee, limes, medicinal plants… The rum will also be made in Puerto Rico.
Ok, what’s next for you? Are you working on another album?
Yes, I keep composing music, and recording. We’ll drop a live album Teatro soon. When you buy it on the site you get the free DVD.
How about a tour?
There’s a possibility that in March next year we’ll be touring.
