2012: Get ready the most anticipated blockbuster of the year
After lead singer René Pérez Joglar wore a shirt to the Los Premios MTV that read, "Chavez por mejor artista pop" the Venezuelan leader took the reference as a compliment.
Chavez even went on national television to announce that the band would be playing a free concert at La Carlota airfield in Caracas this Saturday, Oct. 31. Unfortunately, it seems that the band may not have known of these plans. After hearing about Chavez's declaration, and the fact that the president promised the Venezuelan people that he would "sing a reggaeton" with the band, Joglar responded on his Twitter page, writing, "My love, you didn't understand the shirt, I don't think it's totally positive to catalog a president as an artist, much less a pop artist." Ouch!
It is still up in the air as to whether or not Calle 13 will be performing in Caracas on the 31st, but it looks as though his fans may be in for a treat. His last tweet in reference to the event read, "I sing for you all ... I am not going to sing with anyone who isn't part of my band..."
