Madonna gets permission to adopt girl in Malawi

According to the British paper The Sun, the pop superstar has managed to convince judges to allow her to adopt Malawian three-year-old Mercy James.

Exclusive interview with Madonna A source close to Madonna revealed that the singer is excited because, "She made a promise that she wouldn't give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she's this determined."

Malawi's Supreme Court of Appeal should be disclosing the ruling as soon as this Sunday.

If Mercy James is adopted, she will become Madonna's fourth child and be a sister to Lourdes Leon, 13, Rocco Ritchie, 8 and Malawian boy David Banda, 5, who's adoption was also controversial.
