For most busy couples, a few days in France at the Cannes Film Festival would be an ideal chance to rekindle some romance. But when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed up at the post-premiere party for his new movie, Inglourious Basterds, on May 20, onlookers could feel the tension between them. "They came in around 10:30 p.m. and left at midnight," says a witness at Le Bâoli, the beachside club where the bash was held. "But at one point, they got into an argument because she wanted to leave and he wanted to stay. I think he wanted to hang out with everyone, dance a bit more and enjoy himself. But Angie looked tired and just wanted to get out of there."

But their bickering at a public party -- on a night when they were supposed to be celebrating Brad's new movie -- seems to point to a larger problem. After months of juggling filming and trying to be a mother to six young kids, "Angelina is nearly at her breaking point," says an insider.
