Uh-oh, watch out, Gabourey Sidibe. Your mother might be stealing the spotlight away from you.
Gabby's mother, Alice Tan Ridley, a former school teacher who now sings at New York subway stations, will reportedly audition for the reality show on March 20th."Look, I would not be entering the competition if I did not think I could do well. Singing is what I do and I know I can do this...I haven't told Gabby yet but I'm sure she will support me just like I support her as a performer," Alice told one website.
Alice also said she too auditioned to play Mary, the evil mother on the film "Precious." She, however, decided to pass on the opportunity because the role was too tough, considering she was a mother herself. Alice then suggested her daughter try out for the lead part. The rest...is history!
